• I am sailing as Chief Engineer with Shell International Shipping & Trading Company – UK since November 2007.
• I hold Class ONE (Motor) COC - Unlimited
• I have sailed with various nationalities through out my sea career, Indian, British, Croatian, Pilipinos, Canadian, Pakistani, are few to name. Actual list can be quite exhaustive. I have natural ability to interact with various nationalities and cultures without any problems.
• I have constantly mapped my career goals and reviewed my performance on all fronts.
• I am modest in recognizing my own achievements – what others think of me as great does not excite me very much.
• I am very ambitious – always wanting to improve on my qualifications and to mark my existence in the workgroup that I am part of.
• I believe in giving 100 percent efforts to any task at hand.
• I feel happy when I am recognized due to my work and performance.
• I am level headed and have positive and constructive decision making capabilities. I weigh all possibilities when faced with a situation and can measure up pro’s and con’s rather effectively.
My Experience and Achievements:
• I have 19 years sea going experience, out of which last 13 years are with Shell.
• I was promoted to the rank of Chief Engineer on Shell shipping managed oil tanker vessels in September 2007. I can credit my achievement to professionalism, sound decision making abilities and management skills. As Chief Engineer, I have successfully maintained ship budget for various shipboard accounts and taken care of complete ship maintenance and have kept budget within set target. Also being Chief Engineer, my exposure to demanding Intermediate & annual surveys, Dry Docking, ISM external Audits, ISO 14001 Audits has broadened my horizon to possess industry’s best and varied skills & competence.
• Completed Fire Command and Control Course from Fire School - Morten In Mash- UK. It is a training school for professional fire fighters.
• Successfully Completed Lloyd’s Ship Structure Inspection and Survey course in 2005, which is exclusively arranged for Shell Senior Officers. This training course helped me a lot to understand and evaluate the condition of ship structure while doing regular ship inspections, for CMS surveys being chief Engineer, as well as while preparing vessel for Dry Docks.
• Have sailed for one year on Dynamic Positioning vessel (Loading from DP buoy –Kittiwake – North Sea) in 2001/2002.
• Being 3rd Engineer, I had the opportunity to show my capabilities of electrical jobs in the absence of Electrical officer on Shell vessels. The knowledge and experience I have gained while working on shipboard electrical systems, was very valuable during my entire career.
• Before joining Sea career, I have completed TWO years BSc degree in Maritime engineering studies in 1987-1988 from Pakistan Marine Academy - Karachi.
My Skill Pool
• I am thoroughly familiar with emergency situation handling and other key plans available on board and ashore for dealing with oil spills and other emergencies
• I have effectively guided and motivated my team to continuously produce results. I have the ability to instil professional pride in the team that I form a part of.
• Through open and abundant communications I have always ensured managing office is kept updated of events at my end. I have interacted with Senior Levels of Management within Shell head office in London, Superintendents and contracted repair facilities during my tenure as Chief Engineer.
• Fleet wide weekly conference calls with senior management in head office have added a lot of confidence in me for discussing technical and generic issues with top ship management.
• I have experienced numerous vetting inspections and ship audits. Preparing vessel for Quality Management Systems, Port State controls, SIRE inspections and Classification society surveys are my forte.
My Vision & Targets:
• After spending more than 19 years at sea and attaining adequate work experience at all sea going ranks, I feel a time have come to work ashore for some more demanding and challenging tasks to seek new professional dimensions.
• My aim is always to protect the Environment by maintaining vessels at high standards of safety, open reporting of all incidents and learning from incidents.
• I intend to keep a just culture where everyone is responsible for their own safety and being rewarded for good work done to improve safety.
• My aim is also to manage all available Resources sensibly, prioritizing actions to get maximum output.
• My target is to benefit Company and customers by maintaining vessels efficiency and reliability.
• I believe in good Governess by working closely with operational department to find maintenance slots for planned maintenance to avoid breakdowns and off hire.
• Through out my entire career, my motto was to Respect people, motivate and train them while Safeguarding company interests and keeping high safety standards.
• I believe in Generating Robust Profitability by keeping vessel reliability and efficiency at optimum standards.
• I believe in encouraging people to share new ideas. I embrace the productive changes with open arms and receptive attitude. My experience is that, the end Result will always be dramatic and astonishing.
• I believe in Flawless execution of all the jobs proceeded, To achieve this target, I use all the available tools to make sure that job is done safely and effectively
